News from the Desk: Summer 2023

By July 18, 2023 No Comments

Happy summer! I hope you have been able to get away, recharge, or do whatever it is that you like to do best. Sherry has been busy doing what she does best – teaching lawyers about estate planning! On April 19, Sherry gave a lunchtime presentation to the South Sound Planned Giving Council about the Washington’s Electronic Wills Act. The live presentation happened over Zoom, but that did not prevent audience members from engaging in a lively and thoughtful discussion about electronic wills.

Later that month, on April 28, Sherry facilitated a discussion group at the popular Personal Estate Planning for the 99% continuing legal education program for attorneys, hosted by the King County Bar Association. Her interactive group brainstormed about how to draft provisions in estate planning documents based on various hypothetical scenarios.

As a virtual office, we relish the times we get to spend together in person. Earlier this month we met up for happy hour at Lantern Brewing. We enjoyed trying some new beers and eating excellent food at Burger Planet!

We have six great blog posts to share with you this month, including Sherry’s discussion of Washington’s new capital gains tax that went into effect last spring.

As always, I would love to hear your questions and comments. If you have any questions about our firm and the work we do, please contact us or visit our website.
