News from the Desk: September 2016

Happy Fall!

I was delighted to be a guest on the Seattle Real Estate Radio Show on September 5. I joined two talented hosts, real estate agent Les Cutting and mortgage professional Dan Keller, in their discussion on the probate process and how it impacts real property issues. Want to take a listen? Click here to listen to the show.

As some of you may know, I am a member of the Estate Planning Council (EPC) of Seattle. Sherry and I attended the EPC’s quarterly dinner on September 21, and this month’s speaker focused on charitable giving. As a rule, we strongly emphasize charitable giving in our estate planning work. Feel free to ask us about how you can incorporate charitable giving in your Will!

I was honored to be asked to speak at the 2016 Washington Small Business Fair, or Biz Fair, on September 24, put on by the U.S. Seattle Small Business Administration. I spoke on “Business Law Essentials”, one of my favorite topics. Because I run a small business, and my firm helps small business owners start and run their small businesses, I truly enjoy this yearly event. I had a great time meeting local entrepreneurs and connecting with friends new and old.

Tomorrow evening, September 28, I will be attending the Red Mass at Seattle University. The Red Mass is a tradition within the Catholic Church dating back to 1245, when it was first celebrated in Paris to honor Saint Ives, the patron saint of lawyers. Now, it is celebrated annually throughout the world to honor lawyers and the role they play in promoting justice and peace, and is held in churches including Westminster Cathedral in London and the Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle in Washington, D.C, where many Supreme Court justices, members of Congress, and sometimes even the President attend.

As always, I would love to hear your questions and comments. If you have any questions about our law firm and the work we do, please contact me or visit our website.
