News from the Desk: July 2018

By July 18, 2018 March 4th, 2020 No Comments

We hope you had a great 4th of July holiday, and that your summer so far has been full of travel, adventure and fun with your family and friends.

Sherry and I attended a Phinney Neighborhood Association Business Group lunch on June 13. We enjoyed meeting other neighborhood business owners, and discussing a variety of business and neighborhood concerns. We are so fortunate to be a part of this terrific local business community!

Sherry published an article in the July King County Bar Bulletin entitled “Ethical Considerations for a Virtual Law Office.” In operating our virtual law firm, we are continually mindful of how our attorney ethical rules, known as the Rules of Professional Conduct, apply to virtual law firms. In her article, Sherry discusses a Washington ethics advisory opinion on practicing law virtually and addresses its implications. If you’re not a KCBA member, you can read the full article here.

I attended some terrific events in late June, including the Association of Women Attorneys with Real Experience (AWARE) brunch on June 23 and the King County Washington Women Lawyers (KCWWL) Judicial Appreciation Luncheon on June 27. The Judicial Appreciation Luncheon recognized three judges: The Honorable Helen L. Halpert – King County Superior Court, The Honorable Richard C. Tallman – U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and The Honorable Veronica Alicea-Galvan – King County Superior Court. Each of them offered highly inspiring and insightful remarks, making this event one of the highlights of the year.

As always, I would love to hear your questions and comments. If you have any questions about our firm and the work we do, please contact us or visit our website.
