News from the Desk: March 2016

Spring has sprung! This time of year, it’s always fun to see flower buds popping out of the wet earth and bright green leaves unfurling from bare trees. What a perfect time to think about beginning a new venture, or getting your personal estate planning ducks in a row. We’re happy and ready to help!

At the end of last month, our office team gathered for a delicious Italian dinner at Cantinetta in Wallingford. Because we are a virtual firm, we do not get to spend much face to face time with each other, so it was fun to catch up and enjoy a wonderful meal.

Sherry and I enjoy speaking on various legal topics to fellow attorneys and entrepreneurs, and do so throughout the year. I had a busy February with various speaking opportunities, and this month, Sherry presented on legal ethics as it relates to both client communications and social media at a Washington State Bar Association Continuing Legal Education (CLE) course on March 17. Attorneys who choose to engage in social media need to do so in a way that fully complies with our ethical rules, as outlined in the Rules of Professional Conduct.  It’s a fascinating and timely topic!

Speaking of fascinating topics, I’m pleased that the second installment in my series on Myers-Briggs®  personality types has been published by the American Bar Association’s GPSOLO eReport. In the first article, I explored the first personality type dichotomy, Introvert/Extrovert, and how it can impact an attorney’s professional life. In this article, I delve into the remaining three personality type dichotomies, Sensing/Intuition, Thinking/Feeling, and Judging/Perceiving, and how attorneys can use this information in managing their careers. Please enjoy, and let me know what you think!

I had a wonderful time last week on my annual vacation to Indian Wells, California to attend the BNP Paribas Open Tennis Tournament! I enjoyed seeing tennis greats in action, including top ranked Novak Djokovic, spending time with good friends, and getting some much needed vitamin D.

As always, I would love to hear your questions and comments. If you have any questions about our law firm and the work we do, please contact me or visit our website.
