News from the Desk: April 2016

April is a beautiful time of year in the Northwest! We hope you are enjoying these warmer spring days with family and friends.

Lisa and I were excited to attend the University of Idaho’s College of Law Seattle Alumni reception on April 11, which included a presentation by the college’s Dean Mark Adams. We both grew up in Idaho, and are proud to be alumnae of the U of I. It was a fun opportunity to meet other local alums and learn about events at our alma mater. We both deeply value our law school education!

Our firm also values giving back! As many of you know, I’ve enjoyed serving as a long term Board member of a non-profit organization, Tennis Outreach Programs (TOPs). Our mission is empowering youth for lifetime success through tennis, education, fitness and character development regardless of economic circumstances. Wondering how you can help? TOPs is participating in the Seattle Foundation’s annual GiveBIG fundraiser on May 3. You can participate on May 3rd by clicking on the website link, selecting Tennis Outreach Programs and providing a tax-deductible donation. The Seattle Foundation provides a “stretch” to participating charities, so your donation will have an impact beyond its actual amount. I’m so proud of the work we do to serve children, and I would truly appreciate your support on May 3.

Beginning in 2016, Sherry joined the board of the Mother Attorneys Mentoring Association Seattle. This organization seeks to empower attorney mothers and encourage professional success while celebrating their roles as attorneys and parents. MAMA Seattle is devoted to furthering the interests of mother attorneys in Seattle, in Washington, and throughout the nation by promoting the advancement of mother attorneys within the profession; providing a forum for informing members and the legal profession about issues of particular concern to parent attorneys; and increasing opportunities for interaction and connection between mother attorneys of diverse backgrounds and practices. Sherry is proud to be a Board member of this organization!

As always, I would love to hear your questions and comments. If you have any questions about our law firm and the work we do, please contact me or visit our website.
