News from the Desk: October 2018

Welcome Fall! This season is one of the prettiest in the Northwest, as we’re all enjoying the changing colors and cooler days. We hope you are enjoying autumn as well, and we look forward to assisting you with your legal needs.

My fourth and final article in my Athlete to Advocate: Lessons Learned through Sports Propel Lawyers to Compete as Champions series was published this month in the American Bar Association GPSolo eReport. In this article, I discuss how the lessons learned as an athlete regarding teamwork and sportsmanship impact an attorney’s approach to engaging as a lawyer. “In a sports competition, it’s called sportsmanship; in a legal matter, it’s called civility. The principle is the same: treating your opponent with a sense of dignity and respect and playing fairly by the rules.”  Check out the article here.

The Tennis Outreach Programs (TOPs) Auction was on October 13! Our team had a great time, bidding on some fun items, getting involved in the Dessert Dash and sharing some great wine –  all the while supporting a fun and fantastic local non-profit which I’ve been proudly involved with for many years. And, Katie won the cash raffle!

Sherry has served on the Board of the Mother Attorneys Mentoring Association (MAMA Seattle) for the past few years. She, along with Lisa and Katie from our team, look forward to attending their annual banquet on October 17, where they will be presenting Kellye Testy (former dean of the University of Washington School of Law) and Annette Clark (former Dean and Professor of Law at the Saint Louis University School of Law) with the MAMA Seattle 2018 Betty Binns Fletcher Leadership and Justice Awards.

As always, I would love to hear your questions and comments. If you have any questions about our firm and the work we do, please contact us or visit our website.
