News from the Desk: October 2017

By October 11, 2017 No Comments

October is a lovely month in the Northwest – changing leaves, cooler temperatures and crisp, sunny days. We hope you’re enjoying it as much as we are!

I’ve recently enjoyed attending a few thought-provoking and interesting events. On September 22, I attended the Greater Seattle Business Association (GSBA) Face to Face event, in which a panel of GSBA members posed questions to candidates for some key elected positions in our region including the Mayor, Seattle City Council, and Port Commission. In addition, on October 2 I attended the annual Red Mass at Seattle University. The Red Mass is an opportunity for attorneys and judges in our community to join together in “a traditional gathering that recognizes and celebrates the legal profession’s vital role in promoting justice and peace through our work and academic endeavors.”

I’ll be attending the Washington Women Lawyers Annual Event and CLE (continuing legal education course) on October 14 in Spokane. The CLE, sponsored by Legal Voice is entitled “Third Annual Women’s Law Update.” It will focus on recent legislation and litigation, as well as ongoing advocacy, that Legal Voice is engaged in to advance women’s and LGBTQ rights in Washington State. The event also features a panel moderated by Hon. Rosanna Peterson of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Washington and including distinguished panelists: Antony Chiang – President, Empire Health Foundation; Rachel Houglum – Executive Director, Women Helping Women Fund; and Rick Eichstaedt – Executive Director, Center for Justice.

Finally, we’re all looking forward to the TOPspin Auction on October 21 in support of Tennis Outreach Programs! I will be there with my team for what promises to be a fun and inspirational event. I’d love to see you there, supporting our kids!

As always, I would love to hear your questions and comments. If you have any questions about our firm and the work we do, please contact us or visit our website.
